Global Warming Study "seriously flawed"

Shockingly (sarcasm intended there), "a climate change study that projected a 2.4 degree Celsius increase in temperature and massive worldwide food shortages in the next decade was seriously flawed, scientists said Wednesday."  (Link to story here.)

Shockingly (no sarcasm here) these "climate scientists" have admitted that the flaw existed . . . and the media is reporting it.

But, of course, it was just "an honest and common mistake."

President Fiat strikes again

Following up on yesterday's post, the Obama administration is once again committing to rule by decree . . . here's the lead paragraphs from this story from FoxNews.com:

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- After failing to get climate change legislation through Congress, the Obama administration plans on pushing through its environmental policies through other means, and Republicans are ready to put up a fight.


On Jan. 2, new carbon emissions limits will be put forward as the Environmental Protection Agency prepares regulations that would force companies to get permits to release [so-called - SLC] greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.


Who cares if Americans don't want it?  So what if Congress rejected this job-killing baloney.  King Obama will just do it anyway by executive fiat.

Whatever happened to separation of powers?  I guess they don't teach about that in Indonesian (or, apparently, even Hawaiian) grade schools.

"Little evidence" for Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's global warming claims.

Who do you believe, the IPCC or the IAC?  The guys who claimed that the Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035 or the guys who didn't?

Either way, their ain't no consensus!


(By the way, I know that was grammatically incorrect.  Allow me a little poetic license, okay?)

Cows: Stop blaming us for "global warming!"

The "Global Warming" crowd has long blamed domesticated cattle, ranchers, and diary farmers for global warming because cows are gassy, flatulent creatures.  They produce methane.  Methane is a "greenhouse" gas - one of many that environmentalists believe is responsible for rising temperatures (event though they aren't really rising).  

But not so fast . . . grazing cattle, a new study shows, reduce production of another "greenhouse" gas (nitrous oxide) by microbes in the soil.  So, with every cow, methane goes up and nitrous oxide goes down.  

Here's what it all boils down to . . . the earth is a very complex system folks.  Very.  Its details are beyond our understanding at this point.  The scientists who claim to know what is causing "global warming" (if it actually exists) don't really have a clue.  They're just guessing and trying to sound certain so that their funding doesn't dry up.

Why is Al Gore getting camera shy?

Al Gore is scheduled to speak at Duke University on Thursday.  The speech is expected to last about 45 minutes and he's expected to take questions from students.  And the media is invited . . .  but only to the first 5 minutes of the speech.  (Link to story here.)

Why?  

I suspect that he has figured out how much easier it is to deny one's outlandish exaggerations and fabrications when later proven wrong if there is no proof that such statements were made.

Gore seems to have learned a valuable lesson - in addition to picking up an Oscar and a Nobel Prize - from An Inconvenient Truth.  He's gotten too shy shy.

Hey diddle, diddle

The British Department of Energy and Climate Change (yes, they have one) proposed an overly sensational advertising campaign that has been rejected by the British Advertising Standards Authority (yes, they have one of those too).  The campaign featured posters with "adapted" two nursery rhymes and illustrations making "exaggerated claims about the threat to Britain from global warming."  (Link to story here.)

Here's one "adapted" nursery rhyme sure that should be included in any future advertising campaign about the "threat" of "global warming" . . . 

Hey diddle, diddle,

The cat and the fiddle,

The government caught in a lie.

The people all laughed when they realized the hoax,

Until taxes still went sky high.  

Trending up . . . good sense

Three polls released today caught my eye today:

First, is Barack Obama's job approval rating . . . in a little more than one year, the percentage of Americans who "approve" of the way the president is doing his job has plummeted from 68% to 46%.  And the number of Americans who "disapprove" has climbed from 12% to 45%.

The second poll shows the number of Americans who believe that the threat of "global warming" is "generally exaggerated" has risen from a low of 30% in 2001 and 35% in 2008 all the way to 48%.  That poll also indicated that while 50% still believe that "global warming" is due mostly to human activities opposed to 46% blame natural causes, that split is much better than the 61-33 split in 2003.

Third, Roy Blunt is holding a 47%-41% lead over Robin Carnahan in Missouri's U.S. Senate race.

So, overall, I think the polls are showing that the reality trend is rising.  Man-made "global warming" is a hoax, Barack Obama a terrible mistake, and Robin Carnahan a soon-to-be failed candidate.  Given the trends, before long, good sense will be the majority view.

And if that happens before November, the Democrats are in really big trouble.

Global Warming Crowd goes 1984

Today I read this stunning story about how last month was the "hottest January the world has ever seen."  It just doesn't square with reality.  

Cold is now hot.

Black is white.

In his classic book 1984, George Orwell described "blackwhite" . . . a "loyal willingness to say black is white when party discipline demands this.  It also means the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed to the contrary."  (Link here.)

Yvo de Boer, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (I didn't make that title up - though somebody at Wikipedia might as well have) resigned today.  (Link to story here.)

Good riddance.  Maybe the entire bureaucracy should follow him out the door.

India gets it!

Tonight, SLC is flying the flag of India.  Why?  Because India's government has pulled out of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change because the IPCC has proven unreliable.  (Link to story here.)

The Indian "environment minister" said this . . . 

"There is a fine line between climate science and climate evangelism.  I am for climate science.  I think people misused [the] IPCC report, [the] IPCC doesn't do the original research which is one of the weaknesses . . . they just take published literature and then they derive assessments, so we had goof-ups on Amazon forest, glaciers, snow peaks."

That India would pull out of the IPCC is a real blow to its chairman, Dr. R.K. Pachauri, because he's Indian.  

But really now, how can any government really stand behind the IPCC or what it should be called, the IPCL - the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Lies - after the truth has been exposed.  (Recent examples here, here, and here.)

With apologies to Kipling . . . Science is science.  And politics is politics.  Never the twain shall meet.

Another "Global Warming" Lie Exposed - Again

Last week, I wrote about the U.N.'s global warming panel's false claim that the glaciers in the Himalayas were melting so fast that they would be gone by 2035.  (Link here.)

Now, yet another lie has been exposed.  In the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's latest report, "it state that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa were being caused by global warming."  Two sources were claimed for these "observed reductions."  Now, it turns out, that those sources were a magazine article and and a geography student's master's degree dissertation.  And both of those sources based their conclusions on, get this, interviews with mountain climbers . . . not scientific measurements . . . interviews.  (Link to story here.)

I suspect that the interviews went something like this . . . 

"Yo, Mr. mountain climber, was there a lot of ice up there?" 

"Yeah man."

"But not as much as last year was there?"

"I dunno, it's all white man.  Snow and ice all over the place.  But it's sure not like it was back in '78.  Man, that was a cold winter."

"So you're telling me that in your experience, it is warmer now than it was that winter."

"Oh yeah.  That was a cold one."

"So the planet must be warming, right?"

"Well, huh, I guess you're right.  Want some granola?"

"No thanks.  I've got what I need."

Is anything about the IPCC scientific?  It sure doesn't seem so.  

Himalayan Glacier Update

They're still there.

Now, in an update to the previous story about the IPCC's false and unscientific claim that all the glaciers in the Himalayan Mountains would melt away by 2035, we have verification from the IPCC report's author that the claim was included for political reasons . . . Dr. Murari Lal told the U.K.'s Daily Mail that he was well aware of the fact that the claim "did not rest on peer-reviewed scientific research."  Nonetheless, Lal admitted, "we thought that if we can highlight it, it will impact policy-makers and politicians and encourage them to take some concrete action."  (Link to story here.)

In other words, the IPCC is willing to say anything - true or not, verified or not - to support their political agenda.

Shocker, eh.  It is almost as shocking as the breakup of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.  Hollywood marriages are usually so solid.

Here's something just as shocking . . . the chairman of the IPCC, Dr. Rajendra Pachauri's Energy and Resources Institute used the "bogus" claims about melting Himalayan glaciers to win grants worth more than a million dollars.  (Link to story here.)

So is the IPCC falsely pushing its "global warming" agenda for political purposes - or personal economic gain?  Or, like most liberals worldwide, do they see those two things as one in the same?

Another "Global Warming" Lie Exposed

The high-profile Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change issued a report a couple of years ago claiming that "the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035."  Their report was supposed to "incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming."

Too bad it didn't.  Instead, it incorporated the mere bald speculation of a single Indian scientist from Delhi whose comments were reported in a magazine ten years ago.  (Link to exposé  here.)

The holes are gaping in the scientific "consensus" pushing the myth of global warming.  Wake up world!  Wake up America!  It is time to smell the coffee and stop dumping billions - and possibly our entire economic future - into this boondoggle.

U.N. Scientist admits "global warming has paused"

Shivering with cold, no doubt, Professor Mojib Latif "a leading member of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change" admitted this weekend that "the extreme retreats that we have seen in glaciers and sea ice will come to a halt.  For the time being, global warming has paused, and there may well be some cooling."  (Link to story here.)  As a matter of fact, arctic sea ice has actually increased 26% - 409,000 square miles - since 2007.  (Same link.)

Dripping with sarcasm (and certainly not sweat this very cold January night in St. Louis) the blogger writes . . . How about that?  A complete reversal of "global warming" trends even without a deal in Copenhagen.  Without cap-and-trade in the U.S.  And without wrecking our economic fortunes with more and more useless regulation - oh, wait, I guess America's been doing its best on that last one.  

It is truly amazing what a few hybrid engines can do, isn't it?

Thankfully, the polar bears have nothing to worry about anymore.  Didn't we all know that things were bound to get better when we elected Barack Obama president?

Carbon Dioxide is - get this - NOT increasing in the atmosphere

The entire global warming religion is based on the premise that human beings are emitting so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that we're causing the earth's temperature to climb beyond a life-supporting limit.  But guess what . . . a new study reanalyzing the data found that there has been no increase in atmospheric CO2 in the past 150 years.  (Link to story here.)

Out of pure boredom, I've decided to monkey with the blog's colors.  And in an effort to throw the environmentalists off balance, I've decided to go green.

A new threat to America's food supply . . . cap-and-trade

The U.S. Department of Agriculture analyzed the cap-and-trade emissions bill pushed by President Obama and his liberal, environmentalist friends in Congress and found that farmers would make more money by planting trees and converting their fields into forests than by growing food for us (and the world) to eat.  All in the name of stopping "excessive" carbon emissions.  

Since this analysis shows how breathtakingly idiotic cap-and-trade is, the Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has simply ordered his staff to revise their analysis.  We wouldn't want folks to think that this is a bad idea, after all, even though it really, really is.
